Verification & Audit Process
Initial Application
Submit your project details, team information, and development history. We'll email you when your review is done.
Automated Verification
Our system checks public repositories, team locations, and project history to verify UK development claims.
Random Audits
5% of projects are selected for detailed manual review. We may request additional documentation or conduct brief interviews.
Ongoing Monitoring
We continuously monitor for changes in team composition or development location that might affect eligibility.
Audit Response
If selected for audit, you'll have 14 days to provide requested documentation. We understand that development teams evolve, and we work with members to maintain compliance rather than seeking reasons for removal.
Why CODED:X?
The UK has established itself as a significant contributor to global software development, artificial intelligence research, and engineering innovation. We created CODED:UK as a pilot to explore ways to help showcase and promote this expertise.
From pioneering AI research at universities like Cambridge, Oxford, UCL, and Imperial College, to the thriving tech ecosystems in London, Edinburgh, and Manchester, the UK continues to produce world-class software, research, and engineering talent.
CODED:UK aims to provide a way to recognise and promote UK-developed projects, with the goal of helping talented developers, researchers, and companies gain the visibility they deserve while supporting the continued growth of the UK's technology sector.
Our Mission
To create a simple, trusted way to identify and discover UK-developed software, fostering transparency in the global technology ecosystem.
In an increasingly complex global development landscape, knowing where software comes from matters more than ever. CODED:UK provides a clear, verifiable mark for projects developed in the United Kingdom, helping users, procurement teams, and the tech community make informed decisions.
Governance
Public Pilot
Coded:UK™ is operated by Coded:X as a public pilot. We plan to establish an independent governance model and advisory group as the program matures. (No government affiliation.)
Transparent Process
All verification criteria and processes are public. We're evolving the criteria in public during this pilot phase.
Building Governance
We're working toward establishing an independent governance model and advisory group as the program matures beyond the pilot phase.
Our Values
